I would hardly call my own home "extreme" but I was happy to participate in this show. I think the shooters did a nice job and I enjoyed watching them use dollies and gliders to get their shots. Its always great to be exposed to different shooters and their respective techniques.

So the exterior approach is almost entirely sculptural. It's an odd introduction to a building for people with brain disorders. Doesn't it incite further confusion rather than soothe an already compromised mind? Now I'm confused......

We can be thankful that creative intelligence and courage prevailed. The architectural experience becomes one about spatial sequence, framing views and manipulated light.

Study Gehry to see how not to design for 99.9% of all clients. Study him if you think you can attract clients that have money to burn. And not merely a hundred dollar bill used to light a cigar to impress people standing around them, but people who have hundreds of bushels filled with hundred dollar bills, and they are willing to burn all of them to impress people for blocks around. Even then, be aware of something very important, everyone will know if you copied Gehry. You can't copy him and not be laughed at for stealing. So, what exactly can we learn from Gehry? There are people out there who have truckloads of money who are willing to spend it on buildings that get them attention. But why would they hire you, an unknown, when their egos drive them to have a building by a known architect? If you are to attract clients like that, you need to be much more than just a designer with outlandish ideas, you better have an effective P.R. department. Gehry started off doing unusual stuff on the cheap that got him published in the trade mags. It was that beginning that got him known. Don't waste time on conventional projects for conventional clients. You need crazy people who want crazy designs, and you have to get them published.

Simply amazing work! As an architecture student, I am inspired to thoughtfully consider all aspects of design, including the way a building looks, performs, and the way people experience and interact with the spaces.

***** Stourley - This is kind of you to share. I have to confess this is more a poke in the ribs from a teacher to a former student. Steve was one of Simon's and my students at RPI. We counted him as a good friend as well. I am proud of what he has done to be sure, his enthusiasm for Architecture was always infectious. And he has channeled that into a program. Simon and I shared the dynamics of the T-House project for 4 years and he was always magnanimous in his descriptions. It's still very hard to believe he is not here anymore to be sharing even things like this moment. He would have gotten a kick out of it too. Thanks again for sharing your experience. - Tom
